Jay Rouse

Jay Rouse, seated at the piano, beckons listeners not just to enjoy a performance but to embark on a worshipful journey. Beyond the notes, his thoughtful engagement, personal artistry, and undeniable talent create sacred spaces between the melodies. The piano becomes a vessel, transporting both the musician and those in the room into a realm of worship.

Jay’s passion extends beyond keys; he fervently leads people in worship, helping them grasp their identity in Christ. With his wife, Amy, Jay operates within their gifting during worship weekends, working directly with choirs to instill a profound understanding of worship as a way of life.

This heartfelt approach has led Jay to collaborate with diverse artists, from serving as Sandi Patty’s Music Director to working with Bill and Gloria Gaither, Kristen Chenoweth, Kathy Trocolli, Buddy Greene, and VERITAS. Jay’s influence in the music industry is profound, evident in his roles as vice-president of Publishing at PraiseGathering Music Group and Editor of the Medallion Music catalog for the Lorenz Corporation.

Jay’s extensive body of work, comprising over four hundred octavos and fifty best-selling choral musicals, showcases his enduring impact. Publications span prominent music companies like Shawnee Press, Gaither Music Company, Word Music, Brentwood Music, Lillenas, Lifeway Worship, and Integrity Worship.

Recently, Jay embraced the role of Artist in Residence at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City, infusing vibrant music ministry into Sunday services. Born in Florida, the Gulf coast holds a special place, serving as a refuge for recharging amidst ocean waves and salt breezes.

When not immersed in music, Jay enjoys simple pleasures with his family, indulging in sweet tea with a twist of lime, savoring barbeque, or relishing a slice of key lime pie or carrot cake. In these moments, he finds another avenue for worship—acknowledging the beauty in everyday life.

Jay and Amy, parents to Thatcher and Londyn, reside in Edmond, Oklahoma, inspiring and uplifting through their unwavering commitment to the artistry and devotion of worship.

It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship—John 4:23-24
